Hi Joanna, Really interesting piece. No mention however of the changes in shopping habits nationally. City centres are being reimagined all over the place because needs must. I do understand the need for local services for local residents and the homeless community but it's a balancing act surely.

That's right, I didn't mention them. They were one additional impact that Broadmead couldn't withstand because of all the factors that I did mention. Support for Cabot Circus and support for the arena in Filton rather than in Bristol meant that the area was being abandoned. I talk about the people who profit from those decisions. Marks and Spencer is still going at Cribbs. And changes in the way consumers and office workers behave is only relevant where the people in charge are interested. For that very reason, even as office blocks are becoming empty in Bristol, the council is guaranteeing 40yrs worth of office rents for L&G and supporting three more office buildings right in the city centre. I am looking at who benefits and who misses out.
