Three-jobs mayor declares another pecuniary interest
The mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees, has taken on a fourth job in addition to being mayor, since taking office in 2016 and being re-elected in 2021. His latest role is as chair of Core Cities UK; a local government lobbying group hosted by Manchester City Council.
This role was added to his register of interests as a pecuniary interest on May 11, almost a week after the mayoral referendum, which saw the end of the mayoral system and a return to committees for Bristol from 2024.
The latest chairmanship by Rees, who is now set to be the last mayor of Bristol, follows his role as chair of the LGA City Regions Board, which started in September 2021 and for which he is paid £17,500 for one-and-a-half to two days a week.
In December 2020, he joined the board of the independent film makers Plimsoll Productions as a non-executive director where he provides strategic advice on matters such as commercial opportunities, talent, diversity and sustainability.
