From local to national, Bristol in the news
Van dwellers, a bitten finger, and a possible Green MP
The Easter weekend saw Bristol local stories make the national news:
A couple of weeks ago, a report went to Full Council about van dwellers, citing Bristol as having the most in the whole country. A clip of the mayor showing and ignorance of the contents of the report went a bit viral, and today the Times picked up the story.
Local Green candidate Danica Priest, and one of the loveliest people, made the national and local news in a very unfortunate incident; she had the tip of her finger bitten off by a dog while leafletting. She was positive and passionate even while in pain.
Carla Denyer, MP candidate for Bristol Central constituency, isin the Observer paper edition, “Wavering Labour voters give Greens hope in new city seat”. The article fails to mention that Labour have four MPs in Bristol and the city has been run by a vastly unpopular Labour mayor for eight years. He’s so unpopular the city voted to get rid of mayors altogether. When voters go to the polls in a general election, they’ll be thinking of Marvin Rees as well. Article below but no alt-text yet. I will add it as soon as I can.
